Africa Partners With Experts to Improve Beef Production in The Continent
East and Central African livestock producers are set to gain direct access to world-class cattle breeding expertise to bolster the regions Agricultural future, a direct response to challenges faced by the continent’s farmers. The significant move has been made possible by Kroon Vee Brahman, a renowned world’s top Brahman genetics breeder partnering with Kenya’s Masaku H&L to host a landmark Brahman Genetics Workshop in Kenya this October.
The event will take place across two locations: October 9th: Narok Town at the Zebu Hotel. October 10th-11th: Nairobi at Kinga Resort in Athi River. This collaboration aims to unlock the potential of a massive, yet underdeveloped, market by introducing genetics that are tailored to the local environment and the demands of modern beef production.
The workshop is designed as a hands-on learning experience. Jan van Zyl Jnr from Kroon Vee Brahman will personally lead the sessions, offering his expertise directly to local farmers and producers. The program is structured to provide comprehensive knowledge, covering topics from the fundamentals of beef production to the advanced science of genetic selection.
While Africa is home to vast herds of indigenous cattle where Ethiopia alone has an estimated 70 million cattle, and Tanzania over 34 million the productivity and commercialization often remain low. These local breeds are wonderfully resilient but often fall short on the rapid growth rates and superior carcass yields needed for profitable, high-output beef operations.
The Brahman breed is presented as a powerful solution to this challenge. Its Zebu heritage provides the unmatched heat tolerance and disease resistance necessary to thrive in African conditions, a trait shared by other indigenous breeds on the continent.
The real advantage, however, lies in its efficiency. Brahmans are renowned for converting feed into beef effectively, ensuring faster growth and excellent carcass yield. This genetic potential is key to moving from subsistence farming to a wealth-generating business model.
For Kenya, which currently produces about 260,000 tonnes of beef against a domestic demand of 300,000 tonnes, improving local genetics is not just an opportunity for export, but a crucial step toward achieving self-sufficiency.
This workshop represents more than just a training session; it is a strategic intervention to empower a new generation of livestock producers. By bridging the gap between resilient local herds and high-performance genetics, it offers a practical pathway to transform cattle rearing from a traditional practice into a thriving, multi-generational enterprise.

I have a dream, Brahaman is my dream!
We love your spirit, Benjamin! Brahman genetics is indeed the pathway to profitable and resilient beef in our region.
To strategically turn that dream into a successful multi-generational business plan, you absolutely must attend the workshop this weekend at Zinga Resort, Athi River. Mr. Jan van Zyl’s session will give you the practical steps. Thank you
