This was an educational event focused on using Brahman cattle genetics for enhanced beef production in the region. The topics discussed included crossbreeding with indigenous breeds to improve meat yield, heat tolerance, and disease resistance, as the Brahman breed is known for its hardiness and ability to produce quality beef even in challenging tropical environments.
The workshop covered aspects of cattle management, nutrition, and breeding for optimal commercial beef production.

The 4th edition of Agritech West Africa 2025, West Africa’s premier international agribusiness platform, took place from 19th to 20th September 2025 at the Accra International Conference Center, Ghana. Co-located with AgroChem & Agri Input Ghana and Agro Process Pack Ghana, the event brought together the full spectrum of the agriculture value chain under one roof.
With over 100 exhibitors, more than 4,000 professional visitors, and participation from 8+ countries, the 2025 edition was the largest, covering a 3,500+ square metre exhibition area. Exhibitors presented innovations and solutions in areas including agriculture machinery and implements, tractors, irrigation systems, agrochemicals, fertilizers, seeds, livestock technologies, storage solutions, dairy equipment, food processing and packaging, and much more.
The event served as a crucial hub for networking, investment, and knowledge exchange among stakeholders in the agricultural sector—ranging from manufacturers, traders, distributors, and farmers to policymakers and researchers. It was strategically supported by leading institutions including the Ministry of Food & Agriculture (Ghana), West Africa Chamber of Agribusiness (WACOA), Croplife Ghana, Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), Farmers Organisation Network Ghana (FONG), Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE), and Guzakuza.
Participating countries were India, Ghana, Nigeria, China, Turkey, Italy, Ivory Coast, Togo, and South Africa. This ensured a robust international presence and exchange of agricultural best practices and technologies. The dynamic event also fostered public-private collaboration to address challenges in food security, mechanization, and sustainable agriculture across the West African region.

The FAO Subregional Office for West Africa convened a high-level Hand-in-Hand (HiH) Investment Forum, that brought together governments, development partners, private investors, and farmer organizations to accelerate the transformation of agri-food systems across the region. The strategic forum focused on fostering collaboration, mobilizing investment, and scaling up impactful solutions that address food security, climate resilience, and inclusive growth. By creating a space for dialogue, partnership-building, and resource alignment, the HiH Investment Forum aimed to unlock new opportunities for sustainable agricultural development and strengthen West Africa’s position in driving regional and global food system transformation.
The Hand-in-Hand Initiative is FAO’s country-led, evidence-based approach aimed at boosting agricultural productivity, reducing inequalities, and building resilience in vulnerable areas. In the Sahel, it focuses on inclusive, sustainable, and climate-resilient development tailored to each country’s context. Through the forum, associated parties identified investment-ready opportunities and forged strategic partnerships to drive food systems transformation across West Africa and the Sahel.

This was the 37th Edition of the Sahara International Agricultural Exhibition, one of the region’s most influential platforms for agricultural innovation and collaboration. The exhibition showcased cutting-edge solutions in crop management, advanced irrigation systems, and agri-tech, providing participants with a firsthand look at the tools shaping the future of farming.
The event also served as a vibrant networking hub, bringing together farmers, agri-business leaders, researchers, and industry experts from across the globe. Attendees had the opportunity to exchange knowledge, explore partnerships, and engage in meaningful discussions aimed at driving productivity, sustainability, and growth within the agricultural sector.
Being part of the exhibition offered invaluable access to new markets, as for over three decades the show has enjoyed strong international participation of exhibitors and visitors from Africa, Europe and Asia. The Southern African Development Community (SADC), in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), hosted the SADC Regional Hand-in-Hand (HiH) Initiative Forum, a landmark gathering aimed at advancing agrifood investment and cooperation across Southern Africa. The forum brought together government leaders, development partners, private sector stakeholders, and farmer organizations to identify opportunities, align strategies, and mobilize resources for the transformation of the region’s agrifood systems. With a focus on innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity, the HiH Initiative sought to accelerate progress toward food security, rural development, and economic growth, fostering stronger collaboration and shared prosperity across member states.
A special focus of the Forum was placed on African Small Island Developing States (SIDS), with a first phase with the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) member States (Comoros, France/Reunion, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Seychelles). These island nations showcased their investment priorities including the integrated development regional priority value chains, the sustainable development of blue economy, and the trade integration within the broader regional context.
The IOC played a pivotal role in ensuring that African SIDS are effectively represented in regional discussions, with emphasis on sustainable fisheries, blue economy opportunities, and agro-ecological practices that promote resilience in vulnerable island systems.

The 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025) kicked off in Algiers as one of the continent’s largest and most impactful trade gatherings, with an estimated $44 billion in trade and investment deals secured. The event brought together 35,000 conference delegates from across Africa and beyond, creating an unparalleled platform for networking, business matchmaking, and policy dialogue. With participation from 75 exhibiting countries and more than 2,000 exhibitors, the fair showcased diverse opportunities across key sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, technology, and services.
The event focused on fostering continental collaboration and strengthening intra-African trade ties, marking a major milestone in advancing the goals of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Attendees experienced engaging live demonstrations, including crop showcases of cassava, rice, maize, and arrowroots, alongside practical displays of irrigation tools and modern farming equipment.
The showcase also highlighted the vital linkages between agriculture, the blue economy, and community health, underscoring the role of integrated approaches in driving sustainable economic development.
